Machine Mania

On Thursday 26th June, Melrose students will receive a demonstration of the machines created by Catholic College students. Students will be walking to the College with their classroom teacher and must be in full school uniform, leaving Melrose at 11.30am and returning at 1.15pm. There is no cost involved with this excursion, however permission slips must be returned no later than Thursday 19th June

Mortimer Sheild Gala Day

On Monday 2nd June, the girls school rugby teams will play against other schools in a league tag gala day run by the NRL. Students will leave Melrose at 9.05am to Survass Park / Jelbart Park and return to school at approx. 3.00pm. Students will require school sports jumper, shorts, boots/ runners, lunch and drink. Permission slips are going home today and need to be returned by Thursday 29th May.

Senior School Winter Sports

Students in Areas 1,2,3 & 7 will participate in the Senior School Winter Sports which begins Friday 30th May and continue on Fridays 6th & 13th June and 18th & 25th July. On these dates students will depart Melrose at 1.10pm and return at 3.00pm. Venues for events: Soccer/Netball-Kelly Park, Hockey-Hockey Centre Siva Dve, Tee-ball-St Monicas PS Brockley St, Football-Wodonga Racecourse. Students will be required to be in full school uniform with appropriate footwear and bring a drink bottle. Permission slips will go home with students today and need to be returned with appropriate money to your classroom teacher before Thursday 29th May.      

Year 3/4 Questacon Virutal Conference

On Wednesday 4th June, Year 3 & 4 students have the opportunity to participate in a virtual conference in A17 with Questacon in Canberra. The lesson is focused on innovation and students will learn new skills to solve problems. Please return  the permission slip along with $2.00 by Monday 2nd June. The session may be recorded for learning purposes. If you do no wish for your child to be recorded, please write “I DO NOT WISH MY CHILD TO BE RECORDED DURING THIS SESSION” above your signature on this permission slip. Children can still participate in the activity but will be out of the view of the camera.

Year 5/6 Melbourne Excursion

On Thursday 19th June, students will be visiting Kinglake National Park, Science Works and the Melbourne Museum, leaving Melrose at 7.00am sharp and returning at approximately 9.00pm. Students are expected to be in full school uniform and to bring a packed lunch, snack and drink bottle. Please return permission slips with the payment of $55 to your child’s classroom teacher by Tuesday 10th June.

Year 6 Transistion

Year 6 students have been given information regarding Secondary School enrolment for 2015. These Year 6 to Year 7 Transition forms need to be returned to your child's teacher as soon as possible. These forms are an application for Year 7 placement. These are forwarded from us to the relevant Secondary School who will then send an enrolment package to the student. Thank you to those students who have already returned their application. If you have any queries relating to Transition please contact  your child's teacher.

Education Week and Open Days

Mon 19th May - Preps   All current Prep classes will be having a “Crafternoon” session from 2.40pm - 3.20pm Parents invited to participate with their child

Tues 20th May - Yr 1/2 All current Grade 1/2 students from Areas 10/11/12 & 13 and their families, are invited to celebrate Education Week with a book and BYO Picnic lunch from 11.30am - 12.30pm 

Wed 21st May - Yr 3/4 All current students from Areas 4/5/6 & 8 will be participating in a “Make an Invention Activity” 2.30pm– 3.20pm.  Parents welcome to attend and participate.

Thurs 22nd May - Yr 5/6 Students from Areas 1,2,3 & 7, as part of their Rich Task topic “Protecting Endangered Animals”, will take a short expedition to the pondage at the Cnr of Felltimber Creek Rd and Melrose Drive. Leaving the school at approx. 12 noon, parents are welcome to walk with us or meet at the pondage.

Fri 23rd May - All year levels BOOKS, BLOKES AND BREAKFAST 7.45am - 8.45am Bring an adult male family member/friend/neighbour to share a story in the Library and have breakfast!

SCHOOL TOURS FOR PROSPECTIVE 2015 STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES - MONDAY - FRIDAY  Guided tours between 9.00am - 3.30pm  or anytime by appointment  Come along and have a tour of our school and see all the great facilities that Melrose has to offer!

Junior Parent Helper Information Session

Teacher’s highly value and appreciate the support offered by parent helpers. Jobs undertaken may vary from doing literacy activities with students, assisting with worksheets, contacting books, helping with displays or sharpening pencils – each job is appreciated as I am sure you will agree – there are never enough hours in a teachers day!!! 
Tomorrow - Friday 16th May, we will be holding a parent information session at 2:30pm in the staff room. This will run for approximately half an hour and will give you general information as well as answering any questions you may have. Thank you to parents who have RSVP’d for this session, if you have not, but are still interested in helping out in your child’s classroom, please feel free to come along! The session will be run by Mr Shane Lockhart and Mrs Rachel Saunders.

Beechworth Excursion

On Wednesday 21st May, A14, A15 & A16 are going to Beechworth as part of our Snap! Crackle! Pop! Rich Project (Exploring Change in the Kitchen). Students will make bread at the Beechworth Bakery as well as tour and taste Beechworth Honey. Permission notes for this excursion have been sent home, if your child did not bring one home, please see your child’s classroom teacher to organize a new one. A separate note went home about parent helpers for the excursion. If you would like to help out on this excursion, please fill out the form and return ASAP (a completed form does not automatically confirm attendance). THE COST OF THIS EXCURSION IS $15 PAYABLE ASAP.
