EQ Executive and Buddies

Thursday, February 12, 2015 11:42 AM

EQ Buddies

EQ buddies are students elected by their peers in foundation-year 4. These students are elected based on their ability to demonstrate confidence, self-control as well as a willingness to be positive role-models and assist others.

EQ Executive
EQ Executive are senior students elected by their peers in year 5-6. These students are elected based on their potential to shine as student
leaders. These students take on many leadership roles including running assembly each week, organising playground pals, assisting with cross age activities as well as many more jobs of responsibility along the way! Students hoping to become an EQ executive are required to prepare a speech to deliver firstly to their class and then if successfully short-listed, they give their speech to the entire senior school.

Melrose Community Christmas Concert

Thursday, December 18, 2014 1:54 PM
Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful success our first ever Christmas Concert was! We had over 200 children singing throughout the night (as well as a staff number I’m sure you’d rather forget!!) Many thanks to all of the teachers who practised the carols with their classes as well as the families for bringing their kids back to school at a time of year where it feels there is a thousand things on! Great appreciation also to everyone who purchased raffle tickets, donated prizes, bid on the Solomon’s Flooring Rugs… these efforts raised $2,000 for the school! Thank you to members of our School Council who were in strong attendance and ran the BBQ on the night (hard to believe we had sold 350 sausages by 7pm!) I know that it was a night thoroughly enjoyed by all! Mrs Begley, Miss McWilliams and myself are all ready to organise what will now be embraced as an annual school community event!!!

Send a Smile Appeal - 5 cent drive

Friday, November 21, 2014 9:23 AM
Please save up your 5 cent pieces! As part of the Serve & Learn Program, students will be collecting these in the last 5 weeks of Term 4 to purchase items from World Vision to assist people around the World. In previous years, we have purchased mosquito nets, chickens, goats, pigs, water pumps, school supplies, materials for vegie gardens and more! This is a fabulous way to show our children that - Our smallest coin can make a big difference! We would love to raise over $500 this year. Please ask all of your family and friends to collect their 5c coins as well! If every Melrose Child brought in $2 of 5c pieces (only 40 coins!) we would raise over $600… imagine what we could achieve if everyone raised $5!!! Collection tins have been distributed around the school (in every classroom as well as the office) please start collecting TODAY!!
