School Photos

Sunday, August 28, 2016 1:05 PM

Tuesday 6th of September, 2016
Envelopes were sent home with each student last week. Please ensure the correct money is in your child’s envelope (the school office will not  be able to provide change) and send it to school ON PHOTO DAY. Note: Parents have the option to place their order online. Each envelope is personalized with student name and unique ordering code. If a student loses their envelope, their opportunity to  order online will be lost and they will need to place their order by handing in a generic envelope obtained from the school office. Photo prices range from $25—$45 Family photo: Parents wishing to have their children photographed together (with siblings who attend Melrose), will need to collect a Family envelope from the school office before photo day, as these will not be sent home with the individual  photo envelopes.

Thursday, June 09, 2016 7:17 PM
On the last day of Term 2  (Friday the 24th of June) we will be having a casual clothes day to support Food Share. Food Share is a fabulous organisation that has enabled us to provide breakfast and other food to some of our Melrose children. What a great reason to support the day! Bring a gold coin donation and you can wear your favourite casual clothes.  (Just remember, it’s the middle of winter, and may be quite muddy outside).

Congratulations to Mary Couston

Thursday, June 09, 2016 7:16 PM
We would like to congratulate Mrs Mary Couston who was recently honoured in Melbourne for her dedication to the education of young people. About 400 staff, most of whom are teachers, received awards for 40, 45 and 50 years of service at the Recognition of Service to Victorian Education ceremony. Recipients shared their memories of beginning work in schools, how times have changed and their career highlights.
Mrs Couston, who marked 40 years of service, trained and taught in NZ before coming to Australia. She taught in Tasmania, NSW and Victoria, during which she spent a year on Exchange in Canada. Mrs Couston says that the biggest changes over the years has been in the use of technology in classrooms, having carpets on the floors in the rooms, instead of wooden floors with a roll up mat for children to sit on, and having air conditioning and heating at the touch of a switch. She is still in touch with some children she taught in NZ, and their parents through Christmas cards each year.
We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Couston back to Melrose at the beginning of Term 3. She has been missed.
